Teamwork. What great print and great teams have in common.
It’s not every day a bona fide local football legend walks through your front door to talk teamwork. But recently, that’s exactly what happened at KNP Towers.
As proud regional partners of Norwich City Football Club, we were delighted to welcome Grant Holt to KNP Towers for a behind-the-scenes look at how the Canaries’ matchday programmes are made.
And, just like on the pitch, Grant got well stuck in.
But his visit wasn’t just about seeing the presses, meeting the team and finding out what goes into producing the programmes fans pick up on a matchday. He also spent time talking to us about something that matters in football, in business and, as it happens, in print.
Teamwork. And more specifically, what makes great teams work.
Having each other’s backs, communicating clearly, knowing your role, trusting the people around you, taking pride in what you do. And making sure the details are right, because the details are often what make the difference.
It was a brilliant session for the team. And a great reminder of something we see every day. Good print is never just about the presses.

The finished piece is only part of the story
Most people only ever see the end result – the programme, the brochure, the direct mail pack, the leaflet, the campaign materials, the meticulously boxed-up order arriving exactly where it needs to be.
That finished piece matters of course. It has to look right, feel right, represent the brand properly, arrive on time, do the job it was created to do.
But what people don’t see is the work that happens before it gets there – the planning, the scheduling, the colour checks, the paper choices, the production decisions, the finishing, the quality control, the sustainable thinking, the packing, the fulfilment.
All the small but important moments where care, experience and communication make a difference. Because print has weight, texture and presence. Once it’s in someone’s hand, it says something about the organisation behind it.
That’s why “near enough” isn’t good enough.
Great print needs great teamwork behind it
We won’t overdo the football comparisons (we did that in our World Cup Merch post!), but there’s a natural link between what Grant spoke about and how we work at KNP.
Great teams don’t rely on one person doing one impressive thing. They rely on everyone doing their part well, communicating properly and understanding how their role affects the bigger picture.
The same’s true in print.
A job starts with a conversation about what a customer needs. From there, it goes through estimating, artwork, production planning, print, finishing, packing, storage, fulfilment and delivery.
At every stage, someone’s making sure the next person in the team has what they need. That might mean spotting a potential issue before it becomes a problem. Suggesting a better stock. Checking colour consistency. Planning a smarter production route. Reducing waste. Managing a tight deadline. Making sure the right items go to the right place at the right time.
Much of that work goes on quietly in the background. But it’s the reason our customers feel confident their job’s being looked after properly.

Why we love showing people around
Grant’s visit gave us the chance to step back and look at what we do through someone else’s eyes. And that’s something we always get a kick out of.
When customers visit KNP, they get to see much more than print being produced. They see the people, processes and thinking behind the work. They see how jobs move through the factory. They see the quality checks. They see how sustainability is built into the entire process and entrenched in our day-to-day decisions. They see how every stage connects as one joined-up process. And they leave with a clearer sense of what they’re really buying.
Not just ink on paper – confidence, control, care, experience. A team that knows what it’s doing and takes pride in doing it well.
Come and see for yourself
We’re proud of our partnership with Norwich City FC, and it was a massive pleasure to welcome Grant to KNP Towers. But the same invitation is open to you and all our customers too.
If you’ve ever wanted to see what happens behind the scenes, meet the team, look at the kit, ask questions, check out our sustainability credentials or understand how your work’s produced, we’d be well chuffed to show you around.
Even better if one of your own jobs happens to be on press when you visit.
Because when you see the process for yourself, you see the care that goes into it. And, as Grant reminded us, great work usually starts with a great team behind it!
Fancy a behind the scenes? Don’t be shy, let us know.
